Hey I just got some footage from an editor who uses final cut pro
the footage was originally mfx files, the editor converted them to .mov
but vegas doesn't want to play them, all I get is the audio
My vlc media player can play the clips, but how come vegas wont?

Hey Daniel,

If the clips originated from P2 MXFs then they are probably DVCPRO HD or DVCPRO50 Quicktime movies. You would need a program like Raylight Decoder to view and edit the clips in Vegas or any other NLE that supports Quicktime. If you also need to encode back to DVCPRO HD or DVCPRO50 quicktimes movies you would need Raylight Encoder Pro instead that will view, edit and encode.

Here is more info and demos to try:

Hope this helps,
Andy

If they were XDCam files you'd need a different converter. Open the files in Quicktime, and see what the codec is.
