MOV vs AVI for PPro on PC

Hi there,
Just switched to Premiere on a PC and was wondering what the general concensus is on what file format is better for this application. I'm using a Firestore FS-4 and can record to a QTime or AVI file. I also have the choice of AVI Type 1, Type 2 and Type 2 24P. To be honest, I don't really know the pros and cons of these formats and am hoping someone here can shed some light on that.
Thanks

If you are editing in a dv25 workspace using premiere avi is the way to go becasue its the native codec that your renders will conform to. If you import a .MOV it will need to render just so it can be conformed back to the avi. As to what type of AVI to use I believe it is type 2 (correct me if i am wrong) Type2 24p for space saving 24p footage. I think the diffrence between type 1 and type 2 is that type 1 was not designed to handle bigger file sizes than 2 or 4 gigs (i forget which)

Is the choice for type 1/2 new after PPro 1.0? I could never find that option and found that some software could not open my rendendered files because they required type-2 (which should mean adobe was using type-1 or its own format). Converting with another program fixed this (although a pain extra step). I thought type-2 was needed for the bigger files too, but I'm thinking something with the MS DV codec must have fixed this as I renered to well over 4gig and always had to convert to type-2 after.

When i was using my pinnacle pro-one card using premiere 6.x it gav me the option to use type 1 or type 2. THe 4 gig limit is a fat32 issue and possibly the type 1 issue as well, both need to be resolved to have over 4 gigs i believe.
