Mounting the Anamorphic Lens

Hello all,

just unpacked my new DVX. I also purchased the Panasonic Anamorphic lens. I can't get it on. What am I doing wrong? Does the lens mount the same way as the regular hood - ie at an angle, twit and tighten screw? I can tighten the screw on the 16:9 but it I give it a tug it just pups right off. The manual is a little vague with lots of arrows. Thanks!

Re: Mounting the Anamorphic Lens

tighten the screw to get it on .. the screw tightens the lense to the threads that screw in.. so when you turn the lense, the threads turn with it.. then once its tight, you loosen the screw, and rotate the lense on the threads to center the lense, and then tighten the screw again to hold the lense in that position .. to remove the lense, again you have to have the screw tight so the lense is tight to the threads.. then when you turn the lense the threds will unscrew.. just look at the back of the lense .. loosen the screw and youl see you can spin the ring with the threads on it.. now tighten the screw and youoll see the threads are locked, and you should understand.

Is there a small gap (1/16") between the mount and the focus ring? The battery is charging so I haven't fired 'er up yet.

Re: Mounting the Anamorphic Lens

pends on how tight you screwed it on.. and DONT overdo it and bust somthing. mine is about 1/32 of an inch, but if its tight than leave it alone. and yes.. there has to be a gap, or your ana lense would stop the focus ring from turning... which is bad

I manned a 35mm ARRI yesterday w/ 1.85 gate along with ONE other crew member, and THAT was easier than dealing with this lens on a DV camera. You must have the magic touch to make this accessory worth your while. Seriously, just buy the HVX, take out a credit card or something. Die, 7200, die.
