mounting suggestions for MixPreD

Hi.

I'm trying to set up a one-person rig for my camera and MixPre-d, and running into a couple issues.

I've got a MixPre-D along with the XL-Cam mounting bracket as well. So I attach the tripod plate to the Mix-pre and the XL-Cam screws into the camera (I have a panasonic HMC150). So now the MixPre-D is sandwiched in between camera and tripod. The problem is that it seems to introduce some camera jiggle that wasn't there before. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a better way to mount it?

I found it's quite a big problem to me with all but wide to normal non-L lenses. I wish the surface were as big and solid as the Manfrotto quick release base.

What I do now is to clamp the MixPre-D onto the tripod leg using its built-in tripod socket, and use the top tripod mount to attach a small audio recorder. Surely, it can be used in the "normal" way when hand holding the camera.
