Mounting Shotgun on FX1 issues

Hi, I just recently picked up the rode videomic for my sony fx1 and now I'm battling the issue of the flip out lcd screen that's right behind the cold shoe mount on the camera. Essentially I've been trying to figure out solutions to have the shotgun positioned out of the way from the lcd screen. So far I've found this shoe extender but I wasn't sure if there were any better options.

I'm also wondering if it would just be easier to get a sony shotgun mic that already has a bracket to offset it from the camera, but I'm not sure how it compares to the videomic.

Hi Leone .. the Videomic has a few features that Sony mic doesn't have .. an external 10db pad and high pass filter plus internal dips witches for very loud levels. The Sony has no published specs at BnH either.

Allows for an on camera light as well .. and it's cheaper than that K-Tek. Hope this helps.

Thanks Raster. I decided to go with the cool lux bracket. I don't have an external light but for half the price of what I was looking at it gives me a nice option. I've tested the videomic already and I like the results of it so far, so it looks like I've got my setup now. Thanks for your help.
