Mounting options for Zaza slider.

I have a Zaza slider and am trying to find a good way to mount it to two tripod sticks. After several months of use, I am starting to cross thread the middle 3/8 hole. I really don't want to keep using the center hole, so I figure using the outside two will make it a little more sturdy anyways. I'd like to Not have to thread a tripod through every time I use the thing, so I'm looking maybe for a cheap tripod head with a small square quick release plate (501/701 plates don't work) that I can just leave permanantly attached to the two outside holes. The plate would need to have a 3/8screw, and the tripod head bottom would need a 3/8 female hole. Any suggestions for me?

Plenty of options.... (if I'm understanding you correctly)

1. Add a QR plate on the bottom of the center of the rail so you can easily put it on & off the tripod without having to screw it on each time.
2. If you have a ZazaSlider Standard (or built your own and have the ZazaBasic Feet), the endbars have a 3/8"-16 hole in the middle. Just screw a tripod in on each end and you're good to go.
3. If you want to use an inexpensive pair of tripods, you can just drill & tap a 1/4"-20 hole in each end of the rail and add the QR plates...or get a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 bushing for use with your other tripods. (they are very cheap on eBay)
4. I use a Bogen 3046 tripod that I got on eBay for $125.00 (you can find them cheaper too) exclusively for the slider & keep a 501 head on the carriage, this allows me to just pop the camera off the slider and back to my regular tripod (and a 503 head that uses the same plate) at a shoot.

Hope that helps...

I found this very useful, thank you. I have a slider of yours but my old tripod wobbles with it and I haven't had a use for it otherwise. Looking to upgrade my tripod to a miller solo ds20, but am very happy to see a much cheaper option available that is good for slider use to hold me over.
