Mounting on-camera mics

My first post so please bear with me.

I just got a new DVX100A after selling my fully accessorized Canon XL. I'm curious what shotgun mics are you all prefering for mounting on camera? I have an AT 835B which is fairly long (and worked ok with the Canon/Lightwave combo) but with a Rycote softie, it is way in the pic on the DVX.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

I use the SA-568 shotgun with the Mike Muff (the world's cheapest-yet effective softie) on a mic clip that attaches via hotshoe (it came with the shotgun). I have to be REALLY careful I don't get softie hairs on screen, because it's easy to do. Also, the DVX LCD doesn't show the whole frame, so you need to leave a little room for error.

The short story, it's all possible, just take the time to make sure your mic is out of frame.
