Mounting Arm

Hey

I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount my new monitor to my HVX. I've read that most think its not a good idea to mount it to the hot shoe on the top of the camera handle and I agree. So I'm trying to figure out what I need to attach my monitor to the support rods. The only thing I could find in the forums was the Zacuto mounting arm which is way too much and the Noga Arm. But I'm afraid $150+ for the Noga arm is still a bit too expensive for me right now. Plus, the only way I've read that they are attaching the Noga arm to the camera is by using the the hot shoe on the top of the camera which I want to avoid. Any suggestions on any other mounting arm options that are maybe under $100? And suggestions on a way to mount it to the support rods. I want to make sure I have good support for my monitor so if that means that I do indeed have to spend a bit more then I'll just save up. I just would like to hear my options on the cheapest arm that will still give really good support. Thanks.

I would note that a clamping arm like that is likely to slip on the rod unless the monitor is mounted directly above it. Doesn't seem like something like that would be able to handle a 2-3 lbs monitor and battery. The Noga is flimsy as well; I've used it with an Ikan V8000HD which is really lightweight and it still slips frequently.

Zacuto monitor mount is absolutely the best option available. It's expensive but it's worth it to be able to trust it 100%. The rod clamp is solid, the quick release option means that you can quickly attach and detach the monitor and it supports a ton of weight.

16x9 Inc. makes a J-Clamp that wraps around the camera handle. More info can be found here: http://16x9inc.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=39

Thanks guys. That is a lot of help. I'm going to look for a bit of info on the 16x9 J-clamp but the Redrock clamp looks good to me and a lot cheaper than the zacuto. Thanks again for the help.
