Mounting a Kessler slider to a VCT plate.

Hi all,

Just picked up a discounted Zacuto Cine Recoil kit as an upgrade to my existing recoil system. The new baseplate uses a VCT connection, and I have an old VCT plate. It would be great to get back to VCTs, but I tend to connect my Kessler slider to the fluid head on my tripod using the Kessler Kwik plate. Is there a way of mounting a VCT connector to slider that anyone knows of?

Otherwise, I'm going to have to mount using a ball adapter, and they don't allow me to get vertical shots with the slider.

Thanks in advance.

I think the simplest solution might be to put your old VCT receiving plate on top of a Kessler Kwik Plate.

So it would look like this, from bottom to top. Tripod > Kessler Kwik Receiver > Kessier Kwik Plate > VCT-14/U14 > Zacuto VCT Universal.

Then your slider setup would look like this. Tripod > Kessler Kwik Receiver > Kessler Kwik Plate > Slider > [multiple options]

On top of the slider, you can add another VCT-14/U14 or another Kessler Kwik Receiver. If you use another Kwik Receiver, you can just lift the whole VCT setup off the tripod and put it right on the slider.

If you use a ball head or tripod head on top of the slider, you just add the second Kessler or VCT plate on top of that.

If you really want to put a VCT plate on the bottom of the slider, the cheapest solution will probably be a Lanparte or Tilta VCT baseplate. Those run about $300-$350 on Ebay. I'd say it's simpler and cleaner to just get another set of Kessler plates. Really Right Stuff gear might work, too. I believe Kessler is Arca/RRS compatible.

Thanks for that. Good suggestions. I'll try it out. Just slightly worried there might be wiggle between the kessler reciever and the VCT plate.
