Mounting a field monitor to an XH-A1

I'm considering a Lilliput field monitor for my XH-A1:

It comes with a shoe mount. However, I don't want to mount it on the A1's hot shoe because:
1. It might be too heavy or bulky;
2. It will be too high; I want it at eye level.

I'd like a bracket that will mount to the bottom of the camera and to my Manfrotto release plate, so I can SAFELY use the camera both on and off the tripod with the monitor attached.

I'm considering the Bracket 1 HD 2 but, come on, $120 for a bracket? There must be something more economical.

I don't want to use a rail system either. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

you could attach a LONG articulating arm to the shoe and move the monitor to what ever you need it to be.
