Motion vs AE

I've been looking to purchase AE but have hesitated with Motion coming out soon. I'm not sure whether to take the plunge to learn AE first or wait for Motion. Opinions?

Re: Motion vs AE

Several months ago there was a discussion about this topic. Maybe you could search for it and dig it up from the depths of forum.

I think people came to a conclusion that it is too early to tell since not a whole lot of info is out on Motion. However, from what has been shown about Motion, it is not meant to compete head on with AE. Motion will definitely (hopefully) make life easier in some areas, but it will not be as powerful of a tool as AE.

Then again, the learning curve on AE is pretty steap. My opinion? Well, you can never go wrong learning AE, but if you are going to use it just for titles and other similar effects, maybe wait for more Motion reviews to come out.

It is suppose to come out some time this summer! They have been dragging use along now for months!

Re: Motion vs AE

Well I am a little confused now. I know for a fact that AE is widely used in a lot of stuff we see on TV and in movies. However, I have done some cool title sequences with Livetype that came with FCP and folks thought I used AE to make the title sequences. Now if Motion is not meant to be compared to AE then does it compare to Livetype?

I think Apple's "SHAKE" probably compares to AE more than Motion.
