Motion Tracking w/ another video source?

Moojangles

I want to replace the the lenses of my subjects sunglasses with video clips. Is there an easy way to warp the footage to fit into the lens shape?

The glasses aren't perfectly square they are rounded. Also i need to track the motion of the glasses. Is After Effects the best choice for this?

thanks,

sounds like something you can easily do in ae. Especially with the Mocha tracker in cs4. For warping you can keyframe and use the various number of warpers in the distort menu section.

To distort, you can cerrtainly use a custom gradient (gradient mesh from Illustrator would allow the most latitude), or even a radial gradient in program as a displacement map. Make it full scale though, and drop the size in the comp you will blend it.

You can also use an inverted Optics Compensation to simulate barrel distortion, but you will have a render hit from it.

You can also simulate a magnifying glass on the footage for each lens. That would look pretty good, with only a little of the effect.
