Motion - Moving in 3D Space

I get how to adjust an object in 3D. I can turn it to face up or down, left or right. What I can't figure out is how to make it move that way. In other words, an object starts off facing forward and then turns to face left (or right, whatever) A flat object turns on end, etc.

Any tips are appreciated. Can't seem to find the answer in the help section.

Motion 4, BTW.

Thanks

I haven't worked much in Motion lately, but I wonder whether you couldn't do this by keyframing the object's location in 3D space over time.

Not 100% sure if this will answer your question, but at www.rippletraining.com, if you scroll to near the bottom of the page there is a free tutorial on using photoshop elements in Motion and I think it shows how to use 3d.

There are also 4 free tutorials for Motion 4 in the 19 Final Cut Studio tutorials about halfway down. I think they show the use of the 3d movement.

You want to just make it move in the X or Y direction? You should be able to just click and drag. Also, click on the object and go to the Inspector tab, Properties, then Transform for the Position parameters.

In the "Inspector" you can adjust the Position (XYZ) and Rotation (XYZ)
Throw in a camera to make sure your working in 3D space.

Read up about key-framing and adding behaviors (which are automated motions) in the manual.

Thanks. I knew it had to be simple. I somehow missed the rotation option in the pulldown of the keyframe editor.
