Motion Jpeg A as a viable format?

I am currently trying to come up with the best way for friend to do an online edit of RED footage in Vegas (Yes, I am asking this question on REDuser as well, but I am looking for feedback on this codec here because there are lots of folks here with big brains that don't go there). I can export the raw files a number of ways, including Motion JPEG A, which he says is an easy codec for him to work with in Vegas.

Anyone have any experience/pros/cons with this codec?

It uses intraframe coding and will work with most NLEs as each frame can be cut on. It requires a bit more horsepower to decode but should work just fine. The old Media 100 used this format.

So, if he is outputting to BluRay or as a 1080P file for viewing through a laptop to a projector the quality will be good, but it will take a while to burn/do a final output?

But the final product will play well, no?
