Motion effect

I am shooting a music video and would like to try a technique I read about years ago.

What I want to try is have the band play their song at double the normal speed and when I play it back at 24 fps it will give it a sort of dreamy look.

Would I record them playing the song at 12 fps and when I it is played back on a 24 fps timeline will this achieve the effect I want?

Also if there is any other sort of crazy ideas people have I would love to hear them.

thanks

You would need to shoot at 48fps if you are playing the song at double speed. Search around for this because Barry Green posted some good info on why this is tricky with video. Has to do with the fact that it's 23.976 not 24 fps.
