Motion 2 and Magic Bullet Editors V2

Hello, this is my first post. I tried to do a search throughout the forums to solve my problem, but I couldn't find any, so I apologize in advance.

I got the Magic Bullet Editors V2 for Final Cut Pro and discovered that the new version of Final Cut Pro Universal do not support After Effect Plugins anymore. The solution on the Red Giant Software website said that I should install it into Motion 2 and it should work fine.

When I send footage to Motion 2 and apply the Magic Bullet filters and render it back in Final Cut Pro, nothing happens. Perhaps, I'm doing it wrong, but I tried the regular Motion 2 filters and it works fine.

If anybody could point me in the right direction, it would be extremely appreciated. Thanks again, I'm loving this forum so far.

so these filters DO work in Motion? But you can't get the render to show up when you bring the project back into FCP?

Have you tried rendering out a DV quality movie from Motion?

I haven't heard they actually work in Motion... good to know. Thanks.

HI!

Have you tried exporting the file from FCP as a quicktime movie file, opening the clip in Motion, applying the Magic bullet in it and render it out from motion and importing the quicktime movie back to FCP? I know you will loose the possibility to later fix or change the effects you did but I think its the only way to test if the plugin works in motion or not cause the "send to" command skips the rendering and leaves it to the application in the end of the pipeline meaning that the effects applied in motion are rendered in final cut and if finalcut doesnt understand the After Effects plugin then thats the case.

Hopefully helpfull :)

CaptainMench - Supposidly these filters work in Motion. When you drag a regular filter onto the film, the effect happens instantly. Unfortunately, when I drag one of the Magic Bullet filters, nothing happens.

Tani - I tried your suggestion and nothing happened there as well. It just looks exactly the same. I'm pretty certain I'm doing everything right as it works fine when I'm using any of the built in Motion filters.

Does anybody else have any ideas?

I think you need the latest version of MB to work with Motion 2. Red Giant's website mentions that they are making an upgrade (I think it's out now).

Version 2 is the exact one that I bought. I just checked the website to see if they had a new version and it's the one I have :(

Hi!

Nineballninja - maybe a stupid question but did you try to reinstall the plugin but this time only for motion, I dont have MB but at least in the red giant software page there is different plugin to download for fcp and motion. So If you try the motion installer instead of the FCP installer it might work, or maybe not because its says the fcp is 4.1 version wich is the universal but maybe worth to try.

I have had the same frustrations. It's my understanding that Red Giant is coming out with new software within the next 3 months that will be compatible with the universal edition of FCP. I have emailed Red Giant and recommend you do the same. Perhaps the more input they get, the faster this will get rectified. In the meantime, we are stuck with motion filters and 3-way CC.
