Most Underrated/Overrated Actor(s)

chris evans is underrated in my opinion. i've loved every one of his performances (yeah the fantastic four movies sucked overall, but it didn't stop me from enjoying his performance. i thought he was the perfect human torch).

nicholas cage... a strange combo of ignored and underated

just watched leaving las vegas.... wow.

Underrated - Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, J.K. simmons, Aaron Eckhardt, Diane Wiest,..., and MARK HARMON!!! :D

Overrated - Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Cruise.

Tom Cruise ?

Are you high ? The dude is a legitimate talent.

IN fact;

Overrated - Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Cruise.

No way.

I think William Dafoe is slightly underrated, and a fantastic actor.
I love Don Cheadle and although he is very well respected, I would like to see him in more major roles. He was fantastic in Hotel Rwanda.
Kevin Spacey, definitly.

Edit: Jim Carey definitly makes a killing in comedys but I try not to underestimate him as a serious actor. I really like Carey and think hes had some very good preformances over the years.

Jeffrey Wright is incredibly underrated.

The man is a chameleon. Probably my favorite actor.

I stole this from imdb:

Although he alters aspects of his physical appearance for each role, his voice is often unrecognizable from one role to the next. The voices of Belize, with his intelligent, acerbic wit in "Angels in America" (2003), to Peoples Hernandez whose vicious macho confidence is conveyed through his Latino accent in Shaft (2000) to Al Melvin The Manchurian Candidate (2004), whose deep grumblings heartbreakingly represent the state of a destroyed man.

Not to mention Basquiat, Bennett Holiday in Syriana, Winstin in Broken Flowers...

He is soooo subtle.

Hmmm

Like Pacino and De Niro ? And Walken ?

Cruise included, I think if you just saw these actors' work from the 21st century only, you wouldn't think they were very special at all. They are almost kind of cursed because they had so much ridiculous superstardom, that they are poised to try and recapture that or stay relevant.

I think a little reinvention by picking out smaller profile roles, that are not worn-out typecasts(that are closer to their real ages) would do all of these old lions some good.

Nicholson has been kind of toeing that line. He had The Pledge and About Schmidt and then the Bucket List happened. Despite his past success, I think that he tries to push himself outside of the box that the industry has created for him.

I am excited and worried for Pacino to play Salvador Dali. Who will show up?
Will it be the autopilot caricature or the guy you can't take your eyes off of?
I am hoping for the latter.

I feel like Robert Downey jr is gettign his credit now though.....

Does anyone here think Queen Latifah has any talent? She seems to hit the same exact flat note in every performance. Her fame exceeds her ability.
