Most scary phrase

For me the most scary phrase on a set is the director saying "oow, don't worry, we will fix that in post (soundpost)." :-Laugh(DBG)-1

So what's your most "scary phrase" on a set ?

PS: it's only to fool.... (well...90% though)

"the check has been mailed to you".

Now, unless I know that person or have my deposit, payment due upon arrival to set.

How about this: we're halfway through shooting, we've done two weeks in May and we have two weeks left in july. I've invested 150 000 USD in this production, 75% of which is a short term loan on high interest.
My sound guy, who does all on set audio, and has promised to do all the sound mixing / design in post tells me three weeks before the second period of shooting (which is when most people take their vacations) that he's not gonna be able to be on set but he'll dub half the film in post for us instead.

That's too bad... I would say I come over to help you in july :-Dum(DBG):

We might be able to get someone to pick up sound. I have a couple of names to go on, and I know a place I can rent good equipment for a good price.

Sound editing / Sound design is a different story. I need to find someone who not only can do an entire feature length film, but do it on a micro budget and it's got to be someone who has a good understanding of psychological horror.

.... someone who has a good understanding of psychological horror.

Now that would be a scary phrase..... "I understand Psychological horror...." Some how I think that would be followed by, "Ya wanna come home with me and see my taxidermy collection?". We all know how that would end! :violin:

Trust me.

When spoken by a producer*, there is almost no more frightening phrase: because (with some exceptions, of course) 'trust me' is what a producer frequently says when he has no idea whatsoever how to resolve a given problem or prepare for a given issue, and figures that rather than just admit it so that the problem can be properly worked he's gonna try and save face. It's also irritating because usually you're being urged to 'trust him' when you are trying to get him to address a specific issue concerning your department, in which you have extensive experience and therefore comprehend the dimensions of the looming catastrophe that you are being asked to trust him, to avert...

There are indeed some producers (most of them very, very experienced UPMs) who can say that and actually make it sound reassuring. But they're few and far between.

this phrase has been a dealbreaker for me when interviewing crew... "I don't like actors."

I don't even understand this. It's like applying for a job at Starbucks when you can't stand the smell of coffee.

*coming from nine out of ten directors, though, this phrase is absolute undiluted hot tasty death and there's just no way around it...

Following on from the above...

"Run!"

From my student days "Wait, was I supposed to be recording? I didn't think we'd started yet..."

"I'm going to have to be like, 10 minutes late."

Then 10 minutes turns into half an hour, and half an hour turns into an hour....
