morphing / transformation

In my next project a character who lacks a soul is presented as this pasty-white slightly deformed individual.

At the end of the film he undergoes a gradual process that restores his soul and visually this is going to be presented by him changing back to normal.

I was sort of thinking about approaching this problem by doing a morph or gradual dissolve between the actor in make-up and the actor without make-up.

Does anyone with more experience then me have any thoughts on this? How to make it better, perhaps a solid approach?

A morph is actually a combination of a warp and a controlled disolve. To make it as realistic as possible, don't morph the whole thing at the same time. If it's a face, try to have different parts of the face morph at slightly different time. Also when you shoot the before and after, make sure you shoot with the same lens, same perspective, same camera height, and of course same lighting set up.

Good luck.
