I've knocked it down, either going to purchase a HF20 / HF200, or a HV30 (ASAP) - as my main units.

The difference being, the HV30 runs on those lovely little tapes..

..the HF20/200 run's on External Chips / Interior Hard drives.

Any thoughts?

Arguements & re-directions to other threads welcome.

already leaning towards the HF20/HDD's.

Are you doing events that need long recording time? If so, tape is important. If not, tapeless is awesome. You just have to know you can record as much as you want and offload when necessary. I'm not totally converted; when I had an HVX it was my choice in a large part because it also had a tape deck.

Indeed, it'd mostly be about.. well a daily shoots. Talking about 6-10 hours at a time.

The extra downfall / bonus with the Tapes is that there collectable / storable.

In that case I'd consider tapes. But not because of archivability. I used to say the same thing before I made the switch. In fact, I said a lot how much I liked tape. But then I tried it. Once you get used to the idea storing on hard drives is still an improvement. Cheap drives that can store a lot of footage aren't really more expensive than an equal number of tapes, might even come out to less. And it takes less room to store. And it's all there in the same files you used for the original edit, so it's more useful.
