More than one "business name"?

So, here's the deal... A couple years back I started a business for my small production aspirations (Celestial Suicide Productions), and i want to keep that name. But, now I'd also like to start a small wedding videography company, and would like to keep the same "business" but have a seperate 'name'. Is there a way to do this?
Basically, i don't want the bride to have to write a check out to "Celestial SUICIDE productions" for her wedding film. Know what i mean?... but I also would like to keep the businesses together for tax purposes etc. I'm not sure this is the proper forum for this.... but i figured there are so many knowledgeable people on this site, it was worth a shot. So, thanks in advance.

I maintain two business... 24p.com for consulting services and Miledia Films for my feature productions. I don't see any issues for you to have two - one for services (wedding videos) and one for your own productions.

Yes you can have more than one name for a business. You do an operating as or o/a. This means your bank account can accept checks to both name and corporate registry tacks on the o/a name.

Ie. Fleenerco o/a Torn Sprockets Pictures

Now you can bank as Fleenerco as usual but you can also get cards printed and represent yourself as Torn Sprockets Pictures and accept checks to such. This is quite common with T.V. stations which will accept checks as "TV 7" and may have cards for such but the company will also be under its earlier name such as Crudney Broadcasting

right on... perfect... thanks guys for the quick replies...
now, another similar question....
the company is Celestial Suicide Productions.... can i accept checks for Cesu Pro without having to do anything? since it's like an abbreviation,.... or would i have to get another o/a for that?

thanks again...

I would imagine that's something you'd have to discuss with your bank. I know some banks will let you accept checks that are addressed to you and/or your company, but others won't (like mine, even though the difference is "Chris Francis" and "Chris Francis Videography"). But then again mine is for a personal account so they may allow different names on business accounts, but regardless you should just go into the bank and ask them.
