More G2

Hello listers,

I have one Sennheiser G2 system and am adding a second. If you use two receivers, how do you prefer to mount them to a DVX or similar handy-cam. Would handheld or on stix make a difference? I have looked on the BH site for options. They have a right side mounting bracket, and the Jimmy Box which mounts them under the cam with a handle on the left side. That was about the extent unless you had a shoulder mount cam with AB batteries. In my former life, I built boat hardware, and I am tempted to do something new.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

There are many options! It depends on what else you're doing with the camera - onboard light? etc. I always prefer to use the hotshoe mount for one of the receivers anytime possible. The other can go on a stablizing handle shoe mount - or on the wrist strap on the right hand side (this bugs me) or velcro or taped to the top handle. My preference is to NOT use 2 wireless when shooting solo if at all possible! If you're already shooting, how well can you really monitor sound on 2 channels??? But, there are options. My best suggestion (not what you're looking for though...) hire a sound person and let them deal with the receivers and feed to the camera wireless or hardwired.

Thanks Sumfun, I hadn't thought of just strapping them on the handstrap..good idea for "el compacto".

Teledan, that is a great link for a bargan priced bracket. Seems to me if you had a hardware bracket, you would want to hang the receivers facing aft or at least so you could read the display without going around to the right side which is like no mans land when shooting.

Maybe I'll coble something up. I used to own a machine shop which built yacht hardware, and now make my primary $ as a CAD jockey for fabrication companies. If any of you have great ideas, I would appreciate some input. I can incorporate the best, draw it up, and have one of the shops I work with bend it up. If there is any interest, we could make a short run (5-10) and split the cost.

This could be done on other types of hardware also, so if you have an idea for a widget, maybe we could all benefit. I wouldn't even think of doing this anywhere but here...
