Moonrise Kingdom

Long-awaited new film from Wes Anderson has it's first trailer released. Cast includes Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, Harvey Keitel, and Jason Schwartzman.

'Who does this Wes Anderson guy think he is to make films in his own distinct voice and style?" -The Internet

I personally think this looks lovely. I anticipate every Wes Anderson film.

At the end, when Bill Murray says "I'll be back... I was hoping he was going to calmly say I'm gonna go hunt down that shark, or whatever it is... and hopefully kill it."

It's a wide shot, maybe someone can dub it in. :)

I saw Moonrise Kingdom over the weekend and have mixed feelings about it.

Some parts of it feel like Mr. Anderson is desperately trying to bring a Norman Rockwell painting to life, which doesn't work for me at all.

...But when things quiet down and the characters get to do their own thing, the film reverts to a fun and goofy coming of age love story that that is absolutely hilarious.

I just wish that Mr. Anderson had dumped all of the contrived comic book Americana and had just let the film be a little more realistic, something closer to Bob Clark's "A Christmas Story", which always seemed authentically absurd without trying so hard to be "arty".

Moonrise Kingdom was fun, but with that cast and it's great little story it should have been a masterpiece... :-(

I saw Moonrise a few weeks ago, and I thought it was brilliant. Possibly my favorite Anderson film (Fantastic Mr. Fox is very close) and the best film i've seen so far this year.

I have to disagree with your wanting the film to be more realistic. This film was a childrens tale, very obviously inspired by his work on Mr. Fox, and therefore I think had to go away from the realism of Andersons earlier films. I can see what you mean by feeling the film was contrived, but for me it was the best expression of his style to date.
