Monopod!

This monopod could be very handy for wedding videographers when doing interviews etc.
They're great for wedding receptions. They stabilize moving pan shots (like keeping up with dancers), great for interviews, and when you need a static shot, you can jsut plunk it and prop yourself. Much more convenient than jumping on and off a tripod, especially for those shots of opportunity.

Just got back to this post and watched the BTS footage of you working the monopod and realized I watched the XL1 stand with the extended leg version not the tiny feet one. Sorry to seem like flamebait, but I did enjoy the mockery.

Also I completely agree until mine broke I had used my monopod for all but the ceremony. We get lock down simple movement for ceremony and total run and gun for all else. My monopod added extreme flexibility during long nights shooting. My favorite was extending all the way, tilting LCD down, and holding DVX 10-12 ft over crowd dancing.

Is the fluid effect really that noticeable? Does it really dampen the movement and vibration that much more than careful use of a conventional monopod (which I just bought, of course). Thanks.

I got one of these last August for a documentary only because I had no choice, the director insisted and told me she would pay for a monopod if I got one. But once I saw this thing – there was no looking back, and yes the world is a totally different place at 13'. Just a bit unstable, if only the head had a decent fluid action.
