Monopod for verite/run and gun?

I shoot a lot of run n' gun documentary and usually go handheld (Canon C100). Does anyone here shoot this type of stuff with a monopod? A lot of OTF interviews. I thought I'd ask, as I have no experience doing so...

Thanks

I use a monopod for BTS shooting and other R&G type shoots. Its great for nice steady shots and easier on the body for long takes. I do find however that when working in crowds I prefer to have the camera on shoulder as its easier to move through the crowd.

Thanks for the info. A lot of strain handheld -- especially with verbose speakers...

I've shot HH interviews that go well over 10 minutes and it can become quite fatiguing trying to hold a camera steady for that long. Lately I have been using the monopod. It's better than handheld for long lens stuff and it's much less imposing than a tripod if you are shooting guerilla style. Some people use a fluid heard on a monopod, which is heavier and more hassle but if you need shots where you have to point the camera up high, a fluid head can be handier than trying to tilt the entire rig up at an extreme angle. Just depends on what you are shooting. But generally, shooting on a monopod gets a thumbs up.

Nothing wrong with having a monopod in your kit. They are very handy when needed, and generally take up little space when not in use.

Many times I will use mine when doing work on car lots where I am shooting stills as well as video. I can then walk the entire exterior of a car dealership with something like my 5DmkIII on the monopod, and a couple of ARRI belt packs containing lenses, filters and such.

How about a monopod and one of those things you attach to you belt so the monopod rests on that? Been thinking of those, anyone have experience with those?
