Mono vs Stero

Just picked up my first DVX100B today . . WOW! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) What a piece of equipment . . and plan to get another by the end of the month.

However, I have a question relating to audio. Can I bring a single XLR signal from an audio source from a mixer output then go to the camera, "Y" split the audio from that mixer so that I feed both XLR inputs to the cameras from that single source "Y"d? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm doing it now, but I want to make sure that when I put the DVX100B in with the DVC60's that there isn't some kind of pucking going on.

Thoughts?

Sure it's doable, but can't you get 2 XLR feeds from that console? I would probably get an inexpensive mixer (line a Behringer) to input your feed from the console, and then distribute it to both your cameras.

Actually this is how we do it presently with the DVC cameras but just wanted to make sure that no one seen an issue with regard to the DVX100B camera. Gives us mono in both channels and the reason we do it this way is to avoid lots of cables laying around on the floor to four cameras during the taping of the shows.

You can get XLR cable that both lines of the rubber casing are fused together and then Y split on the ends so that you have separate channels. Its still technically one cable if your worried about extra cables floating around.

Additionally, you can also get casing to put over several cables (making it one) think of it as a condom for your cable... makes things nice and neat while keeping your cables safe!
