mono to stereo in final cut studio

I was wondering if there was any way to transfer mono to stereo. I was using a shotgun mic that shoots with mono. I dont need it to be exactly like stereo I just want it to come out of all speakers.

Change the PAN settings in the Audio tab.

Why???

Just make sure the audio on the one track is panned center.

this just gives you dual mono. the same as panning one track center.

what you want to do is send it to soundtrack pro and apply the stereo imager. pretty convincing.

That! I'll agree with. Pretty convincing. Not ideal... but you are right. Better still would be to grab some ambient room/area noise and use THAT for the stereo channel and keep the shotgun as center or pan it according to location.

yeah, actually what you described is exactly what i did for the "sound design" for matty_g's lovefest winning short, 6" 45rpm EP. people raved about it. stereo room tone is where it's at.
