Monitors?

Ok, it looks like I'm going to have to fold. I need to get myself something like the Marshal HDA 7 monitor (thanks sharky) but it has to be pretty much 1/2 that price.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The only downside to that monitor, and others in that price range is the resolution, 480x240, about the same resolution as your 2.5" viewfinder. I think however, the Varizoom Swit (something like that) is very comparable to the Marshall but a bit cheaper, you might want to check that out.

The main issue you are going to run into is connections. If you want to have a good monitor that you can actually focus with you need to have component connection at least for the A1.
I actually have 2 monitors a $300 car LCD panel with 800x400 resolution and the Marshal HDA w 800x480px resolution. The HDA however connects via component input whereas the other LCD panel connects via the BNC out from the A1. The image difference is huge. Not only is the Marshal sharper and focusable, but the cheap monitor clips highlights and shadows like none other.

also dont forget the MArshall is expensice cause its a "real" monitor. ITs color accurate, and you supposedly can CC on it.

I am also looking at buying an on camera monitor fairly soon, and came across this one,

what can you guys tell me about it? it has a 1440x234 resolution, which i think is pretty good, is it not?
I am just diving into the world of on camera monitors, so what should i look for when purchasing one?
Thanks for your help!

Well, no, not exactly. Many monitor manufacturers say that the resolution of a monitor is 1440x234, but what they are actually counting is the individual red, green, blue pixels, when infact each red, green blue pixel cluster only equals 1 pixel. So divide 1440 by 3 and you end up with 480x234 for the actual resolvable resolution of the monitor. 480x234 is actually only half NTSC, so it would not help you one bit trying to focus HD with it.
