Monitoring audio on DV2500 deck?

I just got a Panasonic DV2500 DV deck and connected it to my Powerbook (via external firewire harddrives) and a video monitor.

I can't figure out how to monitor sound through headphones while everything is connected and running in FinalCut Pro.

The deck has a mic jack in the front, but nothing for headphones. When the deck is connected to my computer, I don't get audio in FinalCut Pro at all.

Got any suggestions or tips?

Never mind. I went back to Safer Seas in San Rafael where I bought my deck and dvx and asked them. Mark told me I needed a mixer. I was surprised to find out that there's no headphone jack to monitor audio out of the Panasonic DV2500 deck. Apparently decks in that price range don't have that capability.

So if anyone is having a similar issue with their Panasonic deck, there ya have it. I got a Behringer UB1002 and Mark gave me all the advice and support I needed to get it up and running with my studio monitors and NLE. I'm back in logging and editing heaven! ;D
