I'm looking for an affordable true color monitor for video editing. I don't know if I should go with a CRT or LCD because I don't really know he difference. Does anyone has a model to recommand? JVC or Sony?
And now, should I buy a CRT or DVRack? Does DVRack will give me the same true color? My last question is if I buy a regular 9in TV and adjust the color, will it give me true color like a CRT?
A TV is a CRT. A god one might come close, but you won't be able calibrate it like a production monitor, and you won't get overscan or as high of a resolution.
DVrack is more than a monitor. It has all kinds of bells and whistles (Vectorscope, etc) Plus you can record directly to your harddrive. It doesn't really replace a good production monitor though
Thank You very much Jim Brennan! Now I know more about monitors and I'll have to make some choices of what I'll buy first. I was wondering what a CRT must have ? High Def? switchable 16:9, 4:3? SDI or something like that?
I will try to clear something. I'm currently buying stuff for my editing station. I already have a dual G5 and going to buy a Sony deck very shortly. Now I need displays. I really don't know the setup I should go for : 2 regular LCD displays + a CRT, 1 regular LCD display + a CRT, or for example 2 apple 20in HD display with no CRT and might buy DVRack.
