Hello,

I purchased a video adapter for my imac. I plugged it in and my screen went from 17' wide screen to 640-480 standard. How can I keep my widescreen resolution while have this plugged in?

its a Svideo and analog to mini-VGA on the imac

Check the Display preferences in the control panels. If it allows driving 2 displays you'll see the them both listed. I think though that the iMac only mirrors a dispaly which means that it will be the same size and image on both displays. If that's the case get a low priced DV camera and connect it to the firewire. FCP can output to it. Connect amera analog out to you TV or real video monitor.

well the weird thing is, I only attached the adapter in... I have no external TV yet.

See I was hoping to use the TV as a little reference monitor. Showing only the preview of final cut. Is there a way for that?

Plugging in the adapter makes the system think you have a video monitor connected. Follow the previous steps.
