Monitor vs TV for field monitor?

Anyone use a computer monitor or TV?
I'm wanting a cheap 1920X1080 monitor to take with me for various uses including connecting to laptop, switcher etc.
About 17-24 inch for mobility.
My 7" field monitor is not big enough and since TVs and computer monitors can be cheap I was thinking....why not?
But what specs do I need?
1ms response? 5ms?
100,000:1 ?
60hz? 75, 120?

Thoughts?

Not an expert but I believe the idea is once you start using a TV, regular computer screen, etc., you're not really looking at a very accurate representation of the image you're recording anymore, at least not with any reliability. Still good for focus/framing, letting a client see what you're doing, just don't get too attached the contrast/colors/luminance looking the way it does on a consumer device.

To mirror what Josh said, you're ok using a consumer TV for a client monitor, just so they can see what's going on, but I wouldn't make any creative(outside of framing/composition) or technical decisions based on the image.

Most "field" monitors that I've seen aren't very accurate. I don't need the extra bells and whistles, you might just as well by a computer monitor. Your primary concern will probably be brightness and viewing angle rather than the other specs you mentioned. I would suggest finding a monitor that runs at 12volt DC so you can plug in a battery when you need to.
