Monitor recommendations

I'm building a computer for editing, using Premiere Pro 2.0. Any suggestions on good LCD monitors to use? What are the important specs to look at when comparing monitors in terms of brightness, contrast, etc?

Contrast: the higher the better
Screen Response time: the lower the better

also make sure you buy a known brand - there are a lot of cheap monitors out there made by companies noone has ever heard of. when they fail, you will get no service because the company is probably long gone.

That said, almost all name brand monitors are excellent. I have LGs both at work and at home and I have no complaints.

For viewing the rendered output a CRT is still the best call. I use a Dell 24" LCD for the application, but use a real broadcast monitor for the rendered output. It just translates better to what you will encounter when you output your project.

If you do go the LCD only route, then follow morten's advice and get a monitor with good contrast and response time specs.
