Monitor Preview occasionally Darker colors

I just reformatted my computer and reinstalled my AV system.

I am using Adobe Premiere 6.5 when I play a project through the monitor preview window, the colors are darker and incorrect. However, the correct colors display in a secondary monitor running through my capture card through my DV VCR.

Also, the correct colors OCCASIONALLY display in the monitor preview window if i just click somewhere on the time line, however, most of the time, it is the darker color.

Here are 2 screenshots. The first is when the window is displaying the correct color and the second is when the window is displaying the incorrect, darker color. As you can see, the screenshot doesn't even display the darker image that I am talking about.

Any ideas how to fix this? Should I try to reinstall Premiere?

P.S. Sorry for the rather large images.

Looks like you are using a pinnacle hardware accelerator. I used to use the pro-one. There are a lot of little quirks that it has when combined with premiere 6.x. If you would have asked this question 3 years ago I would have known off the top of my head what the problem is. It could have something to do with video layers that have an alpha channel. If you are using a breakout box to connect to a montor your black levels are being converted to analog for you which would display blacks the proper way at 0IRE. Most people just connect their television through a VTR or little DV camera which doesn't convert the black level properly for monitoring but it doesn't really matter unless you are recording your video output to a VHS or other analog format. The pinnacle accelerators used to be good for version 6.x but if I were you I wouldn't worry trying to figure out the the little quirks and just move on to a newer version of premiere. With a semi-decent setup you won't need a hardware accelerator.
