I got an IKAN monitor. And while I love the image quality and everything. The thing isnt working unless its attached to ac adaptor. The battery is supposed to run on sony l series batteries, but for one reason or the other its not working. Not only that i have discovered many people have had this problem. So i am wondering if anyone knows if i can take it to a electronics repair so it could run off a HVX battery? Sort of the way the marshal can be set up from a hvx battery.

The problem that you describe has something to do with the fact that the monitor uses more power on turn on - it is called in-rush current. The battery, on the other hand, has a current limit circuit breaker built-in for safety. So, the battery disables itself upon running into high in-rush current. I heard from one user that Ikan works OK with real Sony batteries, but not with generics. If it is true, their circuit breakers are set to a little higher threshold. If you are not using the Sony, you can try it. Also, after you start the monitor on AC power, you can disconnect AC and keep running on batteries.

i had the same problem too, tried it with the real Sony battery but had no luck.

any smarter method to make the battery to start it up? if i'm on location and my first battery runs out i cannot change a second one.

I do not think so. If you are local to us (Massachusetts), would be happy to test and work on a solution. Or you can send it in if you do not need it for a few days.
