Monitor playback issues - series of freeze frames

Video playback is not functioning between FCP and monitor.. When I start playback in FCP, I see only a frozen image on the NTSC monitor... It worked fine yesterday. (grumble, grumble)..... I've tried restarting the system.... replugged everything.... "RefreshA/V devices"...

I'm using the DVX100a to connect the Mac to the Monitor
Mac G5
FCP HD

Appreciate advice on how to solve or direction to a similar thread that may have already addressed this type of problem...

Thanks,
Jeff

Check that video playback is set to Firewire.
Set to play all frames.
(You need to go through all the related settings after doing a refresh AV)
Sometimes setting the canvas to 100% will help
Is the sequence compressor set to DV or something else?

Playback is set to Apple Firewire NTSC
View>External Video > All Frames
Sequence Compressor > DV/DVCPRO NTSC
Canvas 100 percent
What are the related settings following a refresh AV?
THANKS!!!

Well it sounds like you've got them. Some people just try to refresh the AV devices without checking the frames or the playback video settings.

Try creating a new project and putting in one clip to see if there's some fundamental problem or wether there's a problem with the specifics of that project.

Hey Scott.....
I found an earlier thread of yours that solved the prob.....

Delete FCP pref file
Run Disk Utility and do a repair permissions
Restart system

Works like a champ. Thanks.
