Hello, I´m going to retire my old headphone and I need to buy a good monitor headphone for my audio arsenal. Good quality - price ratio, please, my wife want to kill me ! ;D
I've been using MDR7506's with the DVX100, they are superb.
However, for the DVX100A, I find them lacking -- the echo from 24p mode is infuriating. So now I'm looking for some sound-isolation headphones, to get rid of the echo. I've been recommended to look at some BeyerDynamic BT48's... any other suggestions?
I have the Sennheiser HD280's, very nice closed studio headphones for under $100.. Great for field because they kill a lot of ambient noises and are collapsible..
I use the Audio Technica M30's and love them (mostly). They are very sensitive and I can hear problems in the background much more easily than other models (I've compared them with both the Sonys and the Senn.) The one downside to these is that in windy outdoor environments, they don't totally isolate my ears from the wind, so I do get a bit of "leakage", but I've used them enough to be able to distinguish know what sound is leakage.
I have used Senn HD280 before and it was too uncomfortable for me.
I currently own two Sony 7506 and loving them. I find Sony 7506 to be better built, smaller, lighter and more comfortable, I even use it for my portable MP3 player. But 7506 is not as sound isolating as Senn HD280.
I don't know which one has flatter response and better sound, but I am sure they are both good.
I really like the Etymotic ER-6. The ER-4 was out of my price range. They are great (unless you have to take them off a lot). They make a model that is less power hungry (can't remember the model no.) which might be better for use with the camera. I think it had a different freq. response so check it out. I use mine with a MixPre which has plenty of power out. Just a note, if I don't take them out, I have to leave a mic hot so I can hear what is going on.

The BT48's are great, the best sound isolation and the best sound response I've heard. But I find them terribly unconfortable, and they press your head so hard that I get I migrane everytime I use them.
