Monitor and recorder, or monitor/recorder

Have you considered the new monitor/recorder offerings that are out (or coming on-line) like the Atomos Samurai or Ninja or the SD PIX 240 or so many others? Or, does external recording not appeal? If it does, would you go the combined route and which way, or wold you get a dedicated recorder like a Ki Pro or Mini or other with an external monitor separately? Which options would you choose in that scenario?

I've looked at many of the options out there (NanoFlash, Ninja, PIX), and they all have their pros and cons. I think the most compelling of the bunch in terms of price/performance is the Sound Devices PIX series. The ability to record to EITHER ProRes or Avid DNxHD means footage will easily work with the editing systems most prevalent in the production/post world. The flexibility to record to either SSD or CF cards is a plus. And the built-in monitor looks like to be of pretty high quality.

As I said, they're all good in their own way, but the PIX is the one I'd be leaning towards.
