Mole vs. ARRI output?

Just received a used Mole 1K fresnel. I installed a brand new 1K globe. Side by side my ARRI 650 fresnel (purchased new) has a noticeably brighter output?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Both fresnels have brand new Osram 3200K globes. Color temp is identical, but the ARRI 650 is a lot brighter than the 1K Mole.

check to see if the reflector and lens on the 1k is clean, dirt can really knock down light output

Yeah it was a little dirty so I cleaned it as well as soaking the fresnel lens. It seems like it may have helped a bit, but it's still duller. :undecided

Arri's have a better reflector design and eek out a bit more light. Moles are more robust and take falling over better. If it were just for myself, I'd go w/ arri, but for a rental house, or school, I'd go mole.

Yeah I guess I can't really complain for the $$$. I paid quite a bit less for the Mole.

Thanks for the help guys!

A while back someone in this forum mentioned Mole fixtures as having lower output than Arri's for comparable wattage. Take a good look at both lenses and compare. Seems to me that a difference in diffusion frosting might explain it. Pics I have seen on ebay seem to suggest this. IF that is the case, it would be easy to replace the lens with another brand lens and boost the output of your 1K.
