Modified GoPro Lens users - 12mp 5.4mm with best color reproduction

My mate and I are thinking to go with the Inspire 1, but we are also hesitant. I'm really interested in its speed and non drift performance. Of course in manual mode with the Phantom 2 you can get good results, but another 3K investment is a hard one to decide...

I have heard that the stock lenses from the GoPro's ala 12mp have better color accuracy than modded lenses. Is this true? Is this because of the sensor to optics ratio? If we decide to just buy the Go Pro 4 black and use another 10mp 5.4mm will the color not be as good as the stock lens? We are now strictly shooting in 2.7k at 25p. The Zenmuse is doing its justice. Before we were just using FullHD at 50p, but color accuracy is far better of course at 2.7k.

There is only one 5.4mm lens for the GoPro, albeit people try and rebrand them as their own. I think in truth the original GoPro glass is better, but the 5.4mm does get rid of fisheye and is sharp, the only real issue with it, is it does flare more and it's not the nicest looking flare either. Don't buy the Inspire 1 without checking the footage first, real users are now posting footage from the final production version and it's showing jello, some of which would be enough to spoil shots, you'd want that fixed first.

Also note, the first Inspire crash has happened following some kind of GPS related glitch, having said that DJI have shown decent customer service (which is new ground for them) and have agreed to replace it for free.

I'm really enjoying 2.7k at 25fps. I went from 50p and slow mo for a while, but for what we have atm 2.7k is nice. Gimbal is what does the magic even in windy situations in high altitude. GoPro 4 @ 4K 25fps seems to be the ticket then. =)
