Modern Warfare 3 : PS3 owners please check in

It's not like I timed my flight home to Michigan to coincide with MW3 release so that I can go with my brother or anything...

(I've always been an Xbox guy, though.)

Anyone else glad to see Infinity Ward back behind the wheel? BO sucked hard. The only cool part about BO was Sam Worthington as Mason, but I'm glad to see McKidd's "Soap" MacTavish return, and it will be interesting to see how Tobey Maguire fits in.

i don't have modern warfare 3, but i have been playing uncharted 3.

if anyone wants to add me as a friend on ps3 i'm ugafan09.

but i must warn you that i'm awful at shooters and die frequently.

It has not come out yet so I do not have it...
Anyway I usually get these games the night of and play it pretty hard for a while, but.. I got 3 weeks of solid editing starting next week and will have to wait till December to dive in.

My first post! Just bought MW3 for PS3.. Editing of my MTB holiday last day footage is being put on hold, it was on hold anyways because I can't choose a song!

How are we liking MW3 in comparison to BF3? I'm a big CoD fan but played a little Battlefield last week and it seemed very well done.

Ha ha, we did the obligatory "these kids have been waiting in line for 9 hours" story on our station last night.

I know next to nothing about games, but we just got a Wii. Are there any good shooter games for that family-friendly system? I saw a call of duty game for 20 bucks in Walmart.

I can see the days that would be lost to it.
Yes, I can see how days/production time can be eaten up by video games. Last system I had was the original Playstation.

My PS3 handle is: Kholi

I actually didn't get it at the 12AM launch, I did pay for my copy with secret money that I didn't even know I had so I'll be getting it at about lunch time.

TEAM DEATHMATCH... Lets do 'dis~ Ghost - MW2

Hmm... I'm really liking the "newness" of MW3 compared to MW2 (BO really isn't even in competition here), but I'm getting irritated by a couple things:

1. It seems to have gone the Medal of Honor (2010) route and made mostly small multiplayer maps with very few "safe" places. That is to say, anywhere you stand, crouch or lie, there are two, if not three angles on your position. It wasn't like this in MW2, where you had places in the corners of the map, and sometimes even chokepoints in the middle, where you can move with caution and NOT have to constantly look behind you.

2. Also like Medal of Honor, MW3 seems to have made the terrain less dimensional, almost camouflaged within itself even. You look around and everything is so cluttered with weeds, boxes, chicken coops, baskets, pots, trees, etc. that you can't really make out what you're seeing unless you take the time to focus on the terrain instead of where your enemies are. And that's the other problem... your enemies practically blend in with their surroundings, making them harder to spot and draw a line on. I've played games where this was a good thing; it made the game more challenging. But here, like in MOH, it's just ridiculous.

I'm still hoping the game changes my mind soon, but I'm really missing the distinctiveness of the MW2 multiplayer maps.

(By "newness," I'm referring to the kill streaks, the perks, upgrade system, and other general changes Infinity Ward has made.)

Hehe, it's funny what people prefer. I liked Black Ops more than Modern Warfare 2, and I like World at War more than Modern Warfare 1. Although I missed from MW2 was the Famas. Not that there was a huge difference in my liking/disliking, as I played all of them.

Of course, given our miniseries (Modern War Gear Solid) you know we were a fan of the characters in MW2. Love Ghost.

So far, I've held off on MW3. First, most the of the reviews from friends said "Wow, this feels like a really expensive map pack" meaning they didn't think the experience was that different. I'm also agitated with Activision. This whole 'elite' experience that costs more is just silly. If you want me to pay more on a per month basis, you need to have dedicated servers. This local host thing has GOT to go. The latency issues with MW2 and Black Ops just got out of control. I'd go watch the replay and see how different what I saw was happening compared to what the other person saw.

We've contemplated Battlefield 3 but 3 of the people I play with tried the demo and said it felt like an old school game. Something was off. Maybe that's from a CoD perspective, since we play that so much. So I've not tried that yet.

I think CoD is like the football of military games. It's not intended to be real, it's intended to be fun and like a team sport.

What I do hear everyone excited about is skyrim.

So, are you guys subscribed to the elite stuff? (And I am a Xbox360 person as well, even though I do own a PS3. I actually worked on the CPU chip inside the Xbox, graphics subsystem.)
