Modern Production Music

Hi,

Does anyone know of a good compilation of more "contemporary" sounding music scores for commercial use? Something to be used in promotional videos and TV spots.

They do not have to be free. I just would like to have some type of library so I don't have to buy individual songs from Revo Stock so much anymore.

Thanks

"Contemporary" could refer to any number of genres from jazz to various flavours of rock to hip-hop to New Age and even to classical. I'd consider both Lady Ga-Ga and Diane Krall to be contemporary but no one would dispute their styles are miles apart. So just what are you looking for?

A couple of sources to check out might be Smartsound's SonicFire library and the Magnatunes site.

Digital juice had, and sometimes brings back, two collections that are pretty widespread and useful called BackTraxx. THey also had some fairly useful stuff in the StackTrax and it had the advantage of being able to pull apart the layers. I don't think either is in the current catalog. There is something else that is the new thing. It's probably decent also.

What I found was StackTrax tended to be much more synth like stuff, a lot of corporate hard sell kind of things and some interesting tangents. The good parts were you could pick and choose and so avoid the stuff you didn't find useful. The plus with BackTrax was that it was more "live" sounding. DJ didn't make the BaclTrax stuff they just resold it so you can probably find the original producer and get more like it.

And about Digital Juice. Never pay full price unless you need it right now. They constantly have promotions going on and a big series of ones just before christmas. Get on there email list and you will get offers on a regular basis. Second things seem to almost never go away for good. So BackTrax has popped up a couple of times in promotions well after it wasn't in the catalog anymore. I find their stuff very mix and match. Some is really good and some leaves you scratching your head. But over all it's a good value. The Sound FX for instance range from some really good tracks to some junk you would find in "sound FX" CD's in a record store. But for a good price (especially on sale) they give you a boat load of sounds. So in the end you still get a good price for the useful stuff.

When I said contemporary I met a wide variety, so stuff that you would find on say: a state farm or apple commercial (kinda poppy ukulele sounding stuff) to something very corporate and synthy. not really urban sounding, just pleasant. Basically, something that doesn't sound generic or like it was recorded in 1995.

There are so many online promoters who can help you in promotions of your music. They can promote you music in limited budget, as much as you can afford. I have herd a lot about these online sites, they really works and even they can help you in your productions and publishing.
