MixPre to Olympus LS-10 or Sony M10

Steve, thanks for the reply. I thought maybe if I put a couple of lavs on people I was interviewing, or something like that. Being a total noob I have more questions and fear of doing something wrong with my initial purchase.

So in post they take a file that was recorded in mono and make it stereo? Sorry just confirming. Thanks for the help!

In post, when you put a mono file in the timeline it is panned to the center, so it plays on both speakers. You can take a stereo file from a field recorder with voice on one channel (either left or right) and separate the channels, so you can discard the unused channel, then pan the channel with voice on it to the center. Or take a stereo file with 2 voices. one on each channel, then separate the channels on the timeline and pan each one center, so both voices play in both speakers. Usually stereo recorders do not record the audio as 2 separate mono files, so you have to separate the channels on your NLE. It's quite easy in Final Cut Pro.
