mixing tungsten and halogen

If both are balanced to 3200K, is it ok to mix a tungsten and halogen in a scene? I will be using an omni and a smith-vector A-80. Thanks.

Re: mixing tungsten and halogen

Tungsten is just the normal tungsten filamented glass bulb. It has a lower color temperature because it burns cooler. Halogen, or quartz halogen, are usually also tungsten based lights, but the filament is encased in a halogen filled bulb. The "halogen" cycle redeposits evaporated tungsten back on the filament, allowing the light to be run at a higher wattage then the normal tungsten bulb. Because of the increased wattage, the glass envelope needs to be made of quartz...thus the quartz halogen bulb.

If your tungsten bulb is balanced to 3200 k, chances are that it's some variation of quarts halogen already, but the point being that if both are balanced to 3200k, they should match in a scene.
