mixing mini35 and standard footage

I am considering getting a mini35 for a feature film i will be producing. Due to space and time constraints i will not be able to use it for all the shots. Can footage with the mini35 and without be mixed - obviously the with mini35 shots will have a better DOF etc. But will it be obvious and seem as if the film was shot with 2 different cameras.

any opinions

thanks

I think the difference will be very noticeable. You could probably soften/grain the raw DVX footage to make it match better, but without such post-massaging, it will look like two different cameras.

No with the right post production it won't be noticed!
For a few scenes in Kampfansage (http://www.kampfansage.com) my DVX100A without the Mini35 was used and for the rest of the shoot an XL1s + Mini35 was used and both were matched flawlessly in post! :-)

These units have interchangable lens. I have a telephoto, normal and wide angle on both of mine. Why don't you just leave the unit on and change lens for a different shot. You CAN mix them, but it really isn't necessary. Pardon my spelling. If I got all of this correct, it was an accident.

BTW, this way of shooting takes a little while to get used to. In a good way. It is like learning how to shoot for the first time. Even an experienced Videographer will have to learn to work with the Upside down shots. On the DVX-100A, you simply put a magnet and it flips the picture over. But, it is still a mirror image. You have to work with it. It is kind of exciting to do this. Like I said , like shooting for the first time. I don't know how else to explain it differently.

Hope that this helps.

:-)
