Mixing interlaced and progressive footage

I am currently planning a projects, where 90% of the shooting will be done with my DVX100. I am leaning toward shooting in progressive mode, but some of the footage will be shot on a Sony DSR-500 which only supports interlaced.
I am wondering if any of you have an opinion about mixing interlaced and progr. footage in a DVD project.

Mr Screen

It's a well-covered topic, but the bottom line is this --

You can do anything with artistic editing. :)

Here's what I recommend. For less than $100, DVFilm Maker (http://www.dvfilm.com/maker/index.htm) will convert your DSR footage to 24P. This way you can edit the entire project as 24P.

I've done this with a DSR-250 using the Magic Bullet Suite and it worked fine.

Disjecta, do you know if that applies to PAL-land as well ? Meaning, conversion from 50i to 25p ?

Re: Mixing interlaced and progressive footage

Yes, I believe so. Sorry for my assumption that you were using NTSC footage.

Essentially when you deinterlace 50i footage, it becomes 25P.

You will probably have your work cut out for you trying to match the footage. Converted 50i footage is not even in the same league as the DVX's progressive quality.
