Mixing in Nuendo vs Vegas

Could someone please clear this up,

Nuendo vs Vegas for mixing. Some say Nuendo has a better engine, hmm both are 32bit internal processing. Vegas is $500 vs Nuendo $2500. Both can surround mix. Both are considered DAW's, but Nuendo is used for feature films way more than Vegas. I was over at the Nuendo forums and many Protools users have switched to Nuendo.

What do you think?

For what you're trying to do, Vegas is probably good enough for your needs. And you should be able to get things done quickly in Vegas. If you need to do both video editing and audio editing, I think Vegas is the clear winner.

2- Audio quality depends mostly on how the sound was recorded, and what plug-ins you use. Almost all plug-ins will work in either program.

Productivity-wise, one program may be better than the other.

3- What are you after?

Thanks Glenn, what am i after....its that grand sound iam after, of course that depends on the recording, plugins, levels etc.

But how about the engine? I read so many forums stating that nuendo is better sounding regarding the internal processing, feature wise nuendo is loaded with features vegas doesn't have "yet"

I guess it comes down to this, protools and nuendo are used extensively on theatrical films, why not vegas? It makes you wonder, since vegas supposidly can do the same job.

I had vegas since version 4 and love the picture editing, but heard so much about nuendo iam considering doing the mixing in it when the budget allows.

Hmm I don't know enough about audio to be sure.

It might be that Vegas lacks or did lack features like:
control surface support (v4 or v5)
read timecode from an audio track
deck control, timecode input + output (I forget the exact details of this)

.bwf support for >4 tracks
other features that slip my mind
