mixing halogen with flourescent lights

What do I need to do in order to mix my 500 watt halogen watts with my flourescent lights? Someone advised me to put a ctb gel on the halogen light to mix with the flourescent. Can someone confirm this?

You can also gel the fluorescent with some CTO, it might keep your light output a little more balanced.

With no choice of swapping sources, then I'd colour correct the brightest fixtures, so CTB on the tungstens or CTO on the flu's., or maybe half on each?

When I was building my lighting kit I decided to go with mostly flouros at 5600k. I always gel them with CTO as it cuts only 3/4 or a stop of light as opposed to putting CTB on the halogen lights which cuts 1 1/2 stops light. Although I do both somtimes depending on wether or not their is daylight coming in a window.

Mixing color temperatures sometimes can give you a cool look too. Like if you key and fill light are 5600k and the rim or back light is 3200k.
