Mixing framerates for reel

Hi all,

I'm starting to mix together my student reel. My cameras and framerates are all over the board and I'd like to know the best way to edit them together.

I've got footage from...

Canon XH-A1 at 24f and 30f
Canon XL1/GL2 at 30f (really just 60i)
Sony F900 at 60i
Sony V1U at 24p (captured w/o pulldown removed at 29.97)

Is it better to convert it all to a 24p or 60i timeline?

It is easier and more natural to add cadence to 24 material making it 30 then to use some sort of standards converter and convert 30 to 24.

Can I throw the 24p stuff into a 1080i60 timeline and it'll conform appropriately? Or do I need to convert it using Compressor and then drop it in?

No... just dropping it in will create duplicate frames (I believe...). I'd wager you either have to do it by adding cadence in FCP and exporting to tape or using CINEMA TOOLS to add it.

There are new features in Compressor, but I'm not familiar with the newer version.
