Mixing frame rates/aspect ratios in FCP

I'll make a long story short. I have problems and so does my project.
Now for the story.
I recorded a 3 hour live show with 5 cameras, 4 of which are regular mini DV. No problems there, but I want to cut in the DVX footage which was on a nice 9,000 boom..ahh! The DVX has the anamorphic lense on it also. Soooo...the big question:

How do I mix standard 4:3 dv with the DVX 24PA (I should have not shot in advanced mode I am guessing)?
When I set regular dv on the timeline with the other cameras, it shrinks because the timeline is set to accomodate the DVX footage (16:9). I want to mix full frame with widescreen.
NOTE: I captured the DVX footage as DV NTSC 48khz Anamorphic. My FCP presets are 29.97 16:9 (checked).
I am new here and to the world of 24p and I know as much about pulldowns as I do quantum physics.
Maybe one of you smart gentlemen could set me strait on how to mix/capture both 29.97 miniDV and the DVX 23.98 PA footage on the same timeline. I am using a pb 1.25 with FCP 4.5.
Any ideas? Hope?

Pick a standard, then convert all your footage to one. Probably, you'd be best to add a pulldown to your DVX footage, and to letterbox your widescreen footage. That way, you can edit everything in one, standard, 4:3, 60i timeline.

Re: Mixing frame rates/aspect ratios in FCP

How would I add a pulldown to the 24pa? What does a pulldown exaclty doing?
Also, when I letterbox the anamorphic material, do I just throw on the letterbox filter in FCP?
Thanks for your quick response.

Re: Mixing frame rates/aspect ratios in FCP

What does a pulldown really do?
Also, how do I add a pulldown to the 24pa material in FCP?
How would I letterbox the material keeping the aspect ratio- would I drag the letterbox filter to the clip and render it?

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem...

I'm shooting all of my material in 24p normal, but accidentally shot one sequence in 24pA and one in 60i. Is it possible to do pulldowns on both the 24pA and 60i (even if the 60i will look less 'natural') on a 29.97 timeline?

Re: Mixing frame rates/aspect ratios in FCP

I still have not resolved the issue. One way I did find to keep 4:3 and 16:9 on the same timeline is to squeeze the 16:9 clips only to match the native 16:9 frame with the letterbox. As far as frame rates, I am sticking to 29.97.

I there a training course or book or anything that will give me more insight to all this 24p(a), anamorphic, pulldown, candence confusion?
Something that would also address editing multitude of sources on the same timeline in FCP would be perfect.
